Partner in focus — Infra Capacity Alliance (ICA)

We’re proud to officially spotlight our partnership with ICA (Infra Capacity Alliance), a key player in strengthening the Netherlands’ resilience infrastructure. ICA brings together public and private organisations with one shared mission: to ensure that during a crisis, whether due to natural disaster, conflict, or other emergency, we’re collectively ready to respond quickly and effectively.

With ICA’s strong roots in infrastructure, logistics, and coordination, their work directly impacts the Netherlands’ ability to offer rapid, practical solutions when it matters most.

Aligning with ICA’s mission for national resilience
As of September 2024, Bed-Stay is proud to be one of ICA’s selected partners, contributing our modular sleeping solutions to national preparedness efforts. As such, we will provide flexible, fast-deployable accommodation designed for use in calamity response scenarios, from emergency shelters to overflow housing. Our solutions are scalable, easy to transport, and can be deployed wherever needed, offering a dignified and secure place to sleep in times of crisis.  Moreover, our sleeping solutions contribute directly to a more resilient Netherlands, making us a valuable addition to ICA’s partner ecosystem.

When asked whether the government has sufficient equipment for all crisis scenarios, the answer will always be no,” explains Peter Vogel, General Director, Bed-Stay. “Offering our modular sleeping solutions is a method we at Bed-Stay developed several years ago. Our company culture and operations align seamlessly with ICA’s objectives: acting in a scalable and efficient way with land-based (emergency) infrastructure solutions to achieve the desired effect during a crisis. Our experience in recent years with housing refugees and asylum seekers, as well as supporting events both domestically and abroad, makes us a highly relevant partner within ICA.

The way forward for ICA and Bed-Stay
In the coming year, ICA is working to compile a comprehensive national emergency plan, grounded in the five key societal needs identified in the 2024 NIPV report “Verkenning naar het versterken van maatschappelijke weerbaarheid en veerkracht in tijden van crises”: safety, population care, wellbeing, health, and societal continuity. As part of this initiative, Bed-Stay plays a crucial role in the area of bevolkingszorg (population care), providing modular sleeping solutions that are rapidly deployable in times of crisis.

Together with public organisations such as the Red Cross and the Salvation Army, and private partners like Bed-Stay, ICA is shaping a practical, scalable plan to present to the government — one that ensures a fast and coordinated response when disaster strikes. A key focus is sustainable availability: instead of warehousing large quantities of materials indefinitely, ICA’s partner network guarantees delivery of the right solutions at the right time, with shared accountability and clear agreements in place.

Within ICA, Bed-Stay plays an important role in strengthening connections between government agencies, emergency services, and other private partners operating in the crisis response field. Their sense of social responsibility is central to this. The increasing threat of large-scale disasters, climate-related emergencies, and humanitarian crises makes it essential to join forces in a structural way and invest in robust crisis solutions."  — Jan Pol, on behalf of the ICA Board.
